Human-charted catchability, drops, and contested targets separate receiving execution from raw target results.
True catch rate is receptions divided by FTN-charted catchable targets. Drop rate uses that same catchable-target denominator.
Contested-target share is contested targets divided by all matched charted targets. Rates are descriptive season-to-date results, not forecasts.

Catch Quality
- Player
- The player attached to the usage row.Why it matters: It identifies whose opportunity or production is being measured.
- Charted targets
- Regular-season target plays matched between nflverse play-by-play and FTN charting. The leaderboard requires at least 15 per WR or TE.Why it matters: The threshold limits the most volatile tiny-sample rates and shows the sample behind each player profile.
- Catchable targets
- Targets FTN charted as catchable balls.Why it matters: Using catchable passes separates receiver outcomes from throws that did not offer a reasonable catch opportunity.
- True catch rate
- Receptions divided by FTN-charted catchable targets.Why it matters: It evaluates completed catches against realistic catch opportunities instead of every target.
- Drop rate
- FTN-charted drops divided by catchable targets.Why it matters: It puts drops in the context of passes the receiver had a reasonable chance to catch.
- Contested-target share
- FTN-charted contested targets divided by all matched charted targets.Why it matters: It shows how often a receiver's opportunities arrive with a defender challenging the catch point.
